Meet the Voicefest Team

Ahmed Mahmood (Med) Tech Team

Med comes to us from Brechin City Hall, a venue rich in theatrical and music events. Med has a technical background and usually fulfils the role of Stage Manager and is a member of the tech team for shows and live events. Med was invited to assist with the inaugural Voicefest and after its great success, is looking forward to participating in the 2026 event.

Angus Coull, Creative Director

Angus had the idea to start a community music event that would bring people together in Brechin Cathedral and other underused buildings. A co-founder of the Prague Fringe, Angus has also worked on food, wine & music festivals in New Zealand. He has a background in TV and radio production and is a Trustee of Brechin Cathedral, as well as being a keen advocate for Fair Trade. He is your first point of contact for all things Voicefest.

Fiona MacKinnon, Director

Fiona has experience as a radio and TV producer, having worked in news, community programming, and the arts. She's a campaigner and advocate for the preservation of historic buildings, such as Brechin Cathedral, and the environment. Additionally, she is an active member of the Voicefest team, promoting community music events.

Jack Miller, Tech Team

Jack has 15 years experience working for festivals, theatres, trade shows and museums, from Glastonbury to the Natural History Museum to trade shows in Europe representing and showcasing various brands and charities. Now settled in Brechin he has been delighted to find ways of engaging with the community at the City Hall and discovering the rich history of Brechin and Angus.

Paula Van Hagen, Director

Paula has 25 years’ experience in UK/International theatre presentation. Her portfolio includes the Royal Court Theatre, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and BFI London, where she led the £2.2 million London 2012 Festival project that restored Hitchcock’s 9 silent films and presented them with newly commissioned scores. Over the past 10 years, she has also contributed to community music events, while leading programming for 2 London venues and promoting cross-artform work from emerging global talent.

Steve Gove, Director

Prague Fringe Director, also a Voicefest Director at Brechin Cathedral

Steve is the director and co-founder of Prague Fringe, now in its 25th year. With a background in the Edinburgh Fringe he has strong connections with Fringe festivals across the globe. He's also co-founder of the Mumbai Fringe and of the Ukraine Fringe. Although based in Czechia, he remains firmly rooted in his home county of Angus, where he brings his international festival experience to the team in Brechin.
